Al-Anon and Alateen groups are sometimes unable to meet regularly during the summer months. Being proactive can prevent these challenges from becoming obstacles—obstacles that prevent members and newcomers suffering from the family disease of alcoholism from finding your meeting. Members of the group may consider:
- Placing a sign on the door to notify newcomers and others that the group is not meeting that day. For example, “Will not meet on July 4.”
- Updating the group information with the WSO and your Area , if you know in advance about the availability of the building where you meet, or if your group doesn’t meet at all during the summer months.
Keep in mind that you can submit your Al-Anon group changes online throughout the year.
