What would you include in a “want ad” for your Higher Power?
Our Twelve Steps invite us to seek a “Power greater than ourselves” to help us navigate challenges and find serenity. Each person defines that power in their own way and exploring what you truly need from a spiritual connection is a deeply personal journey.
February’s blog topic is, “What would you include in a ‘want ad’ for your Higher Power?” What qualities would you seek? Unconditional love? Compassion? Wisdom? Strength? Humor? Whether you’re religious, spiritual, or neither, creating a Higher Power “job description” can be a meaningful step toward self-awareness and recovery.

Seeking a Higher Power who stays close at hand rather than waiting for me to “arrive” somewhere better. Must be willing to meet me exactly where I am — and respect the season I’m in — especially on days when I’m tempted to manage everything myself. Seeking a higher power that showers me with love and attention and isn’t afraid to let me know she’s here. Whose warm embrace is a second away and comfort always available in a hard day. Funny and always knows what’s coming, and guidance is loud and hard to miss! Generous with courage and strength so I am equipped to do her will for me.
