The purpose of an introductory meeting is to introduce Al-Anon and Alateen to anyone unfamiliar with our program and to invite them to try a regular Al-Anon/Alateen meeting. Unlike beginner’s or regular weekly meetings, an introductory meeting is not considered an Al-Anon group and does not have a Group Representative (GR). It may meet periodically (biweekly or monthly) at any place, including hospitals, treatment centers, shelters, or your group’s regular meeting location.
Refer to the Service Manual or the revised Guideline Outreach to Institutions (G-9) for more information on how to start an introductory meeting.
One introductory meeting can change the life of the family member of an alcoholic. What a gift!
