Last year, the World Service Office (WSO) participated in a meeting called RECACSA. Most of you may be wondering what that means.

RECACSA stands for:

R= ramas de servicio (branches of service)

E= estructuras (structures)

C= communicación (communication)

A= apoyo (support)

C= Conceptos (Concepts)

S= servicio (service)

A= Al‑Anon/Alateen.

The 14th RECACSA Zonal Meeting took place in Siguatepeque, Honduras, November 17–19, 2023, and was hosted by the General Service Office (GSO) in Honduras. One WSO Staff member and one WSO Volunteer joined 12 International Delegates representing six Central American and Caribbean structures for a weekend of shared leadership and collaboration.

For RECACSA, International Delegates prepare in-depth structure reports and present them at the meeting. The members of RECACSA celebrate one another’s successes and embrace their common challenges through mutual feedback and support.

The RECACSA Opening Statement illuminates the value of this gathering for those who attend:

“Today I like to think that I am actively involved in the growth of Al‑Anon through service. If I accept the responsibility of service in RECACSA, I will always remember that God did for me what I could not do for myself and persuaded me to work as a Delegate for RECACSA, never forgetting that the highest authority is a Higher Power, which manifests itself through its Delegates to show us there is no better way to preserve our spiritual benefits than sharing them, without conditions, for the growth of our structures and the fellowship of Al‑Anon. When we give each other a hand, life takes on meaning.”
