Outreach to Institutions
Institutions are organizations such as treatment facilities, hospitals, psychiatric wards, and crisis/abuse shelters that provide services to alcoholics and their families.
Organizations may provide residential and non-residential services. Some institutions such as correctional facilities or crisis/abuse shelters are not accessible to the general public.
Institution outreach activities involve bringing Al-Anon information and introductory meetings to those in residential or non-residential care. Our goal is to encourage the family members to attend Al-Anon meetings in their local community.
Our role at correctional facilities is to help them form Al-Anon or Alateen “limited access” groups. Al-Anon service arms, e.g., Areas, Districts, or Al-Anon Information Services sponsor these groups. They provide Al-Anon volunteers to assist with the groups’ meetings and literature.
Listed here are some of the service tools available for your use. Please note that some tools listed are available on-line; others can be ordered from your local Literature Distribution Center (LDC) or the World Service Office (WSO).
