I have been in Al‑Anon for a little over 20 years, and I keep coming back because of the transparency and honesty in these rooms. Nowhere else in my life do I find people who are willing to share what is really going on as I do in Al‑Anon. This program helps me cut through the walls that so easily build up when I try to do it alone. The people in these rooms don’t care where I live, where I walk or where I went to school. They accept me for who I am and encourage me on a path of recovery without forcing me to do anything.
Even after all of these years, I still have so much to learn. I do my best to practice these principles in all my affairs. Al‑Anon helps me with so much more than just dealing with someone else’s drinking. Every relationship I have benefits from this program, and I hope to continue this rewarding way of life for as long as I live.
