Delegating was not my forte when I came to the program. I saw it as a way of being weak and not able to do what was expected of me. Of course, I put those expectations on myself, when nobody else did. I prefered to tell others what to do and resented being told what to do. To delegate requires honesty and humility, which neither of those two qualities I had then. It is in service that I found that delegating was part of what was asked of me, if I wanted to serve in Al-Anon. I loved to serve,… Read more »
Before coming to Al-Anon, I felt I was an authority on whatever came my way. There is a saying that goes like this: “Jack of all trades, master of none.” This was me!!!! I am very grateful for the lessons learned in the program about letting others, better suited than me, handle the things that are way beyond my pay grade. Thank you so much for these shares on Concept 8. The shares are helpful to me and in addition. I am going to use them at my Thursday evening meeting next week. If we establish and respect this system, where everybody can put their talents to work, we can be assured of positive results. The delegation can be summed up in this way: “The person who has the needed talent on a specific… Read more »
Concept Eight thought me many lessons, lessons that I am still learning today. This Concept talks about priorities, details, control, responsibilities among others things and the way they should be applied into my life. It was not easy for me to establish priorities, because I always had a very loaded agenda and in my mind everything was important! The order in which I was prioritizing them was no order at all, they were all over the place. I was resolved on doing everything and the results at times, were disastrous. Today, I have learned to establish priorities, and if everything… Read more »
