The annual Day of Sharing was created by the General Service Office (GSO) of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) to bring together various Twelve-Step organizations, including Al‑Anon, in a spirit of unity and fellowship. The organizational leadership from each group is invited. Al‑Anon’s participation in this event reflects the spiritual principles found in Tradition Six, which emphasize maintaining the focus on our primary spiritual aim of helping families and friends of alcoholics and encouraging cooperation with A.A.
During the Day of Sharing, Al‑Anon’s Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and its Executive Director have the opportunity to exchange experiences, challenges, and successes with other leaders of Twelve-Step programs. This annual interaction fosters a sense of unity and understanding between the leaders of these programs as we celebrate serving our members and groups.
By participating in A.A.’s Day of Sharing, Al‑Anon Family Groups collaborates with the Twelve-Step recovery community. We are all able to learn from one another and encourage each other on our respective journeys of supporting and expanding our fellowships.
Al‑Anon looks forward to participating in the next annual Day of Sharing, coming up this fall.

The Annual Day of Sharing is an event that the World Service Office participates in as an invited guest. It is typically attended by the Executive Director and the Chairperson of the Board of Al‑Anon Family Groups. Organizational Leadership from other Twelve Step groups are invited to attend to collaborate together. This is not an event that is available to the members of the organizations. At this time, the date hasn’t been released for the next Annual Day of Sharing.
Fantastic!! I attended an AA and Al-Anon Campout! Together both groups worked together on the Traditions. This lead to AA members asking about Al-Anon for their families and finding out that we have some of the same issues!! They found out that we are not disapproving of them or that we look down on them!! In fact, I admire them for pursuing and working their program. My Al-Anon sister and I will be doing outreach to local AA meeetings when invited by them in the future, due to the contacts we made at the Campout.
Fantastic. Recently attended a combined Al-Anon/AA campout. We worked the Traditions together learning about each other and sharing. It was an amazing time of sharing and learning.
I hope Al-Anon is able to share their challenges of meeting diversity when it comes to accessibility of people of color, neurodiversity, Alateens and Young People entering and staying in long term recovery. The membership continues to reflect an older membership. I hope the recap of the event can be documented by the Organizers (AA) and published for everyone to have access to the information. I want to read what other 12 step fellowships are offering to the these segments of the population who are often overlooked and underrepresented in Al-Anon membership demographics.
