When I first began my Al‑Anon journey, my grasp of a “worldwide fellowship” was limited to letters we would get from the “world office.” I had no idea of all the things our World Service Office (WSO) Volunteers (the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee members) were doing so that I could find recovery. I had no idea how the information I needed was made available, but I was glad I found it. I have come to appreciate the work that occurs to make sure recovery tools are available to all people who seek them. This interesting work has probably touched your groups in ways you may have never realized.
Would you like to learn more? Plan to attend the 2021 Road Trip, October 23, 2021, in Cleveland, Ohio. This event is a full day of fun and fellowship designed to give members a closer look at how the WSO Volunteers are working to serve the fellowship. We discuss our various committees and work groups, as well as give personal sharings. Our goal is for all participants to realize that we are all Al‑Anon members, working in different capacities for the good of the fellowship. There is even time at this event for small group discussions.
I had the pleasure of experiencing my first Road Trip in 2019. I met members with eight months to 20-plus years of recovery. All shared a renewed enthusiasm for recovery, as I did too. Check out al-anon.org/roadtrip to find out more.
