Help Newcomers Find Your Meeting

September National Recovery Month helps the public pay special attention to Al-Anon and Alateen.

Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism magazines in professional lobbies and waiting rooms can attract more families and friends of alcoholics during September. It is time to dig into the group’s literature box and use all the AFAs, even the ones at the bottom of the box!

Because the public is so open to recovery now, it is also helpful to plan return trips to the same lobbies and waiting rooms. If the first few copies of AFA disappear, return trips and extra copies can help more families and friends of alcoholics find Al-Anon and Alateen.

Is your group ready to “Let it Begin with Me?” Local meeting schedules stuffed between the pages, or a sticker [with the day, place and time for your meeting] on the cover can help a newcomer find the chair right next to yours. “When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, let the hand of Al-Anon and Alateen always be there. . .”

Be sure your group’s meeting information is up to date! Submit your group changes through the Area Group Records process or the WSO right away.

When newcomers arrive at your door, they need to know the correct day, time and location for your meeting—or they’re going to miss you!
